Join the green guide Stefan Maurbakken on a Friday evening walk across Katarinaberget, one of Södermalm's most dramatic and historic heights. Here, fantastic views of Saltsjön and Stockholm meet with vivid stories of fires, witch trials, factories and everyday life in narrow alleys.
We move along Roddargatan, Mosebacke and Fiskargatan – where Årstafrun once strolled and documented the city's scents, movements and voices.
At the end of the walk, I invite you to the table to taste Sweden - Something to chew on and something to wash down the crumbs.

Explore Katarinaberget's rich history, from bottle caps and cholera to loafers, witches and Italian residents.
Hear about the great fire of 1723 that devastated the area and created a new urban environment with residential buildings and factories.
Listen to fascinating stories about Mosebacke Square and how it got its name.
Discover Fiskargatan where Märta Helena Reenstierna, alias Årstafrun, strolled and documented the narrow city and garbage heaps.
The city walk ends near Katarina Church.

Practical information
Meeting point/end of the walk: Meeting at Götgatan 3/Mariagränd. Bus/Subway to Slussen and 3 minutes walk. The walk ends at Katarina Church. At Medborgarplatsen there are subway and buses. Feel free to use SL's travel planner: sl.se
Length of the walk: 90 minutes or 1.2 kilometers.
Accessibility: Asphalt, gravel and grass with some hills and many stairs. If you are in a wheelchair, use a powerchair or have a stroller/bike with you - tell me when booking and I will adapt the roads to avoid stairs and differences in height as much as possible.
Comfortable shoes and clothes for all weather.
Children under 15 accompanied by a paying adult are welcome to join for free.
